Classes and events meet at IRIS unless otherwise indicated

- Private lessons available starting at $25 an hour for 1 person; $10 per hour for each additional person.
- We'll set up a private class for your group of 3 to 4.
About our classes
We limit enrollment to four students so that you can receive individualized instruction.
Classes are taught by Angela Juergens. She has a degree in knitwear fashion design and her designs are published by major knitting magazines and leading yarn companies. She is the creative director and owner of Absolute Knits. Angela has taught hundreds of people beginner to advanced knitting and crochet techniques. She is highly regarded as a teacher because of her warm personal style and clear, simple ways of explaining and demonstrating techniques.
Beginner Knitting Classes: $65
Learn knit and purl stitches, increasing and decreasing, casting on and casting off, reading a simple pattern and determining gauge.
Materials: Bamboo circular knitting needles US8 24”, 1 skein Cascade 220

Basic Crochet $25
Learn basic crochet skills (chain stitch, single and double crochet). At the end of this class you will make a crocheted flower.

Socks on Double Pointed Needles $125
Learn to make socks on double pointed needles with worsted weight yarn. We’ve extended the length of the class so that you will complete a pair of socks.
Materials: 1 set dpn needles size US6, and 400 yards worsted weight yarn (for example Cascade 220 superwash)
February 9, March 1/15/29, April 12/26: 6 sessions, Thursdays 5 – 7:00
Sweater Class: $105
Make you own sweater or cardigan from a Knitting Pure& Simple pattern.
Materials: yarn and needles required for pattern.
February 16, March 8/22, April 19, May 10: 5 sessions, Thursdays 5-7:00
Finishing Class: $25
Learn mattress stitch on stockinette and garter stitch fabric, Kitchener stitch, pick up and knit and weave in ends.
Materials: Homework swatches described below, tapestry needle
Home work: Bring to class 6 swatches (two 4”x4” swatches knit in garter stitch, two 4”x4” swatches knit in stockinette stitch, two 4”x4” swatches knit in stockinette stitch left on needles, do not bind off)

Baby Surprise Jacket: $85
After an Elizabeth Zimmermann pattern (pattern will be provided)

Baby Booty: $45
Great class for advanced beginners. Learn to increase, decrease, yarn over, knit two together, mattress stitch, 3 needle bind off.
Materials: Worsted weight yarn, tapestry needle, circular knitting needle size US 6 (4.0 mm) 24”, 1 double pointed needle same size as circular knitting needle

Cast on & Knit Stitch: $25
Learn to cast on and how to make the knit stitch, bind off for an easy project (wrist warmer or scarf)
Materials: Worsted weight yarn, circular knitting needle US8 24”

Dancing Waves Scarf: $45
Learn to work short rows on a scarf. Pattern provided.
Materials: Yarn Rowan Alpaca Cotton (72% alpaca/28% cotton: 148 y/50g): 2 balls or 260 yards heavy worsted weight yarn 1 circular knitting needle 32” / 80 cm size US 9 (5.5 mm) or size to obtain gauge

Intermediate Skills: $65
Bring in your own project. We’ll teach you the skills needed for your project. And you’ll learn skills related to projects being done by others in the class.
